Functional smart deposition of nano-sized calcium phosphate for medical applications

Institution: University College London (UCL)
Investigators: Mrs Gillian Munir, Dr Jie Huang, Professor Mohan Edirisinghe
Stream: PhD
Topic: Biomaterials (HA)
Status: Live

The detailed production, characterization, optimisation and biological evaluation of TAEA processing will be investigated with the objective of preparing novel patterned nano SiHA for orthopaedic implants. The knowledge gained from this project will provide crucial insights into the biological responses to surface structure, which will have great impact on the design of a range of medical implants. The outcome of this research will be guiding the materials processing, exploring intellectual properties and offering a platform for industrial operation, thus ultimately benefit to healthcare and patients suffered from various diseases.
