Modelling of Finite Element Analysis of Shoulder Implants The Newcastle Shoulder Model (NSM) is a biomechanical model of the shoulder complex which is capable of estimating the joint contact forces. I am performing a validation study on the Shoulder models with special interest on the Newcastle Shoulder Model. UCL has designed an instrumented implant which is capable of measuring the forces and moments acting across the glenohumeral joint.

The aim of my research is therefore comparing the results obtained by the instrumented implant with those of estimated data from the model. This will be followed by performing some modification on the model and can validate some aspect of the model. However the data from instrumented implant is not available yet, so I at the moment am performing a sensitivity study on the model so that when I have the instrumented implant data I can find the cause of discrepancy between the two data.
