Furlong Foundation Fellowship in Lower Limb Arthroplasty 2007

Institution: Worthing & Southlands NHS Trust
Investigators: Mr Richard Hargrove, Mr John Edge
Stream: Clinical Fellowship
Topic: Lower Limbs (Hip)
Status: Completed

Exposure to a wide variety of hip and knee arthroplasty procedures including: uncemented hip/knee replacement, hip resurfacing, cemented hip/knee replacement and revision hip/knee replacement.

This orthopaedic department has a long history of the use of uncemented total hip replacement using a HA coated prosthesis in both primary and revision surgery. The trainee should gain sufficient experience in this technique to be a competent solo arthroplasty surgeon. It would be expected that the fellow would undertake the OCAP competence tests in hip and knee replacement and arthroscopy during tenure of the post.
