Electrohydrodynamic Deposition of Nano-sized Calcium Phosphate

Institution: University College London (UCL)
Investigators: Professor Mohan Edirisinghe, Mr Xiang Li
Stream: PhD
Topic: Biomaterials (HA)
Status: Completed

Electrohydrodynamic Deposition of Nano-sized Calcium Phosphate Dr Xiang Li is currently working as a Research Associate in the microbubbling and encapsulation research group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University College London. His research interest covers biomaterials processing, biomaterials/tissue interface study, advanced prosthetic materials and more recently microbubbling process techniques for biomedical applications.

His PhD research used an electrohydrodynamic process to prepare bioceramic based orthopaedic prosthesis materials for the hard tissue implant applications. Such novel implant materials have shown great potential for the new generation of medical implant with various advantages, such as low cost, short healing period, long-term stability during clinical practice.

This work was supported by the Furlong Research Charitable Foundation (FRCF) and led to a patent application and several publications. The patent application was the first for the FRCF.
