London Orthopaedic Basic Science & Interactive Viva Course
Course Format
The London Orthopaedic Basic Science and Interactive Viva Course took place from the 9th to the 11th October at The Royal Society of Medicine.
The format of the course was somewhat modified this year , allowing a combination of didactic presentations, teaching vivas as well as mock viva sessions in basic science for the FRCS (Orth) examination.
The eminent faculty of experienced scientists and surgeons made this course one of the most successful ever run by the Foundation and we are grateful to Mr Sherman for agreeing to lead the viva sessions.
The feedback from students has been outstanding and we are proud that, we are able to deliver teaching and training of such a high quality and at the same time are able to keep the financial outlay for students to a minimum.
As a registered charity our aim is to provide an educational forum so that we could disseminate knowledge to future surgeons and scientists. This goal was without doubt achieved at The London Orthopaedic Basic Science and Interactive Viva Course.
Comments
Thank you, the course was very enjoyable, if sometimes advanced for my junior position!

I found this course extremely useful and well organised. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to my colleagues.
Mr Mahesh Pimple
It was very well organised course with excellent venue. All participants found course very useful specially the feedback given by the faculty in viva sections. Mr Kevin Sherman's teaching and feedback was excellent.
Mr Khalid khan
I found the course most helpful. The didactic sessions were brief and precise. The faculty gave candidates an insight into what is required for the FRCS vivas. The viva sessions themselves allowed ample opportunity to practise technique and receive constructive criticism afterwards. I would recommend the course to anyone approaching the exam.
