Furlong-BORS PrizeThe Annual meeting of the British Orthopaedic Research Society took place in Newcastle upon Tyne from 22-23 June 2009.
The Furlong Prize winners were as follows:

Furlong-BORS Prize
The 2nd Joint Meeting of the Bone Research Society and the British Orthopaedic Society was held on 23rd - 25th June 2008 in Manchester.
The Furlong Prize-winners were as followings:
- Best Oral Presentation by a Scientist: Mr A El-Serafi
- Joint Best Oral Presentation by a Clinical Scientist: Mr A Amin & Mr A Gordon
- Best Oral Poster: Mr N Millar
- Best Poster: Mr P G Bush
2007:
Furlong Medal at The Institution of Mechanical EngineersThe second Furlong Medal at The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) was presented on 26th June 2007 to Dr Andrew Phillips, who completed his PhD at University of Edinburgh entitled Modelling and Characterisation of the Acetabular Cup. He is currently an academic member of staff at Imperial College, London.
2006:
Inaugural IMechE PhD Prize Competition in Biomedical Engineering 2006
FRCF is sponsoring an annual IMechE award for the best Biomedical Engineering PhD. The first of these awards was presented to Ferdinando Rodriguez y Baena, a student of Imperial College, London, on 27th June for his impressive thesis entitled "Hands-On Robotics & Minimally Invasive Surgery".The standard was extremely high, making the judges decision a difficult one. There were two runners-up who submitted theses on the following subjects:
"Total Shoulder Arthroplasty Simulation using Finite Element Analysis" and
"Silicon-Substituted Hydroxyapatite as a Novel Calcium Phosphate Coating for Bone Tissue Replacement"
